A couple days ago, I went to Sarepia TheaterB and I didn't get suspended. In fact, a ton of players followed hackers into inaccessible rooms but most of them faced no consequences. Now, whenever I follow a hacker into a room, most of the time nothing happens. I've done more messed up things on Animal Jam than the average player, but I've never gotten an IP ban.
If you follow the hacker into inaccessible rooms, the worst that can happen right now (at least from my personal experience) is that you get a 7-day suspension, although that doesn't happen very often.
The hacker was in the 2012 Leap Year Party, but because of parameters in the game that restrict the number of people that can be in the party, you will be stuck on the loading screen forever if you try to follow them. The animations for switching animals don't appear for the hacker, so while the hacker is not affected, other people are. The switching animals hack can be achieved by preventing the switch animals window from closing and repetitively clicking on an animal. Remember, the hacker only changed the artwork, so if you try to click on the party banner, nothing will happen. However, the hacked Jam-A-Grams are harmless. Normally, the game would define a media ID that is associated with a Jam-A-Gram artwork, but the hacker was able to change it so that the game would define the media ID that is the artwork for the 2012 New Year's Party. Jam-A-Grams load because the game defines which media ID loads as a Jam-A-Gram. The artwork for each Jam-A-Gram is associated with an ID, and Jam-A-Gram IDs are part of a collective number of IDs called "media" IDs, which include artwork for a wide variety of Animal Jam's gameplay elements. The hacks that they're doing don't harm anyone, although they often use them to prank people. They're definitely using an external program to achieve this stuff, but the only people whom I know use this stuff don't use it to hack anyone.
